Supporting Arts Awards

DYJO are a registered Arts Award Supporter organisation as well as being our own Arts Award Centre offering Bronze and Silver Award programmes.

For those aged between eleven and eighteen years and taking part taking part in any Arts Award programme from Discover through to Gold through another centre, DYJO can offer the following activities and facilities:

Taking Part in an Arts Activity

We hold seven rehearsal days through the year between September and the following April, with each day consisting of three sessions of ninety minutes each. We are happy to accept in each of these sessions two young musicians wishing to experience playing with a jazz big band led by a professional band leader. We are able to offer video and audio recording of the activity as well as photography in order to evidence your taking part. Free of charge.

Seeing Arts and Culture

DYJO hold concerts throughout the year in a number of locations around Devon. Many are free to the public, but some are ticketed events for which we may be able to offer reduced price tickets to those doing their Arts Awards.

Meeting Arts Professionals

We have three wonderful professional musicians training and developing young players, and they are very happy to meet with those doing their Arts Awards and talk about their experiences of music   performance and education.  Free of charge.

Sharing Skills

If you think you have a skill that would be appreciated or useful in DYJO we may be able to arrange you with a group for you to share your skills with, to evidence the activity and to provide you with feedback as well. Free of charge.

All we ask is that you have your centre Arts Award Adviser contact us so we can discuss how best we can help you.

If you need any more information, or can think of any other way in which we may be able to support you, please contact us at arts-award@dyjo.org
